“How Near Is Your God?” (Measuring Your SQ – spirituality quotient)

The Third Biblical Building Block for the Transition Process

1. We CRC folk typically score low on “passionate spirituality”

a) Measured by such qualities as: (BEEPP)

--boldness

--enthusiasm

--expectancy

--prayer

--positive attitude

b) Where would you place yourself on a scale of 1-10? Where would you place Covenant Church?

2. I Corinthians 2:6-16 – What God does in raising our SQ

a) God’s Spirit communes with our spirit (vs. 10)

b) God is as close to us as His Spirit residing in us (vs.11

c) God’s wisdom is greater than the wisdom of “this age” (vs.6)

d) We access His wisdom by listening to His Spirit (prayer) (vs.16)

3. Hebrews 10:19-25 – What we need to do to raise our SQ

a) Draw near to God (vs. 22)

b) Spur one another on (vs. 24)

c) Get together (vs. 25)
